How to Mix Friends with Business

Hello friends! There isn’t a special recipe for mixing friends with business, but we feel like we’ve got it down pretty well. The four of us have been best friends since we were in elementary school; we went to the same daycare, rode the same bus, and spent countless nights at each others’ houses.

We really feel like the “secret” to any healthy relationship is to understand the other person’s love language…and speak it to them!! Everyone is SOOOO different, so it’s really important to know who you’re talking to and to recognize how they need to be talked to.

If you are curious to see what your love language is click the link below:

We all took the test and here what we scored the highest in:
Taylor // Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts
Ashley // Quality Time, Physical Touch, Acts of Service
Jordan // Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Physical Touch
Carson // Quality Time, Acts of Service, Words of Affirmation

Working with friends isn’t always easy, but for us it’s always fun!! Because we’ve been friends for so long, we are able to quickly drop anything petty to handle whatever business is in front of us. One of our struggles is making “girl time” and not accidentally talking business during that time…but when you love what you do and are passionate about it, it only feels natural to talk about it with your best girls.

On the flip-side of speaking someone’s love language, it’s important to help each other grow. When you’re not growing, you’re going backwards (and who wants that?!). We constantly push each other out of our comfort zones. When you start working with people, each of you will bring ideas to the table that come straight from your brain…meaning, they aren’t always going to match what the others have in theirs!!! THAT’S OKAY!!! In fact, it’s FANTASTIC!! This is one way to propel your business and to really push yourselves to that next level.

You can use both of these methods to help grow your business (and friendships), but be sure that you remember that being flexible and kind will get you far. Being friends means you are going to have your own personal issues; it’s extremely important to be able to separate the two! I know for us, we love and fight hard (although our fights usually last a whole three minutes) so being able to get over the little stuff is killer for our success. At the end of the day, we are planners, designers, and stylists, but most importantly, best friends.
